From cultivation to enjoyment: A journey through the world of coffee
The coffee plant is a true connoisseur among plants, thriving under ideal conditions. Its original home is the tropical regions, shaped by a harmonious interplay of rainy and dry seasons. These very conditions can be found in the so-called "coffee belt" – a narrow strip along the equator that stretches across continents such as Central and South America, Africa, and Asia. Here, the perfect conditions are created for the best coffee beans in the world – and thus, for our incomparable ORIGO coffee.
Perfect care for special beans
For the coffee plants to give their best, a delicate balance is required: They need light and warmth, but also sufficient protection from intense sunlight.
Our partners rely on innovative shading strategies that provide the plants with just the right amount of rest and energy. This allows them to grow gently until, after several years, they reach their full splendor – over two meters high and ready to bear high-quality coffee cherries.
Hand-picked care from the bush to the cup
The harvest of coffee cherries is our top priority – or rather, it’s all about a sense of touch and dedication. Using the so-called picking method, only the ripe cherries are hand-picked. This requires a lot of experience, but it is this attention to detail that ensures the quality of our beans meets the highest standards. After the harvest, the process of refinement begins: The beans are removed from the fruit, washed, dried, and sorted by size and quality. All with the goal of offering you a coffee that tastes simply unmistakable.
The magic of roasting: Flavors to fall in love with
Roasting is an art – and for us, a moment full of magic. In traditional drum roasters, our beans unfold their full potential. Gently roasted at temperatures between 180 and 225 degrees, over 1,000 aromas develop, making up the unique taste of ORIGO coffee. Unlike industrial roasting methods, we take the time needed to preserve the valuable ingredients and create a harmonious, low-acid coffee.
Good coffee, good feeling
ORIGO coffee is not only a delight for the taste buds, but it also benefits both body and mind. It invigorates, provides more energy, and supports well-being – cup by cup. But in the end, one thing matters most: the moment when you enjoy your favorite coffee. Aromatic, balanced, and with the knowledge that behind each bean are people who are valued and fairly compensated for their work.
